About this release
Melodi is Sommerfeldt’s debut full-length album, built around drum-machine grooves and a playful approach to genre. Ambient textures, new wave, deep house, Balearic sounds and slowed progressive trance connect its six tracks. Recorded over four years with hardware samplers and synthesizers, the material incorporates birdsong and ocean recordings before being completed in his Oslo studio. Contributors include Embla Maria, Sigmund Floyd, Toshybot, Guro Kverndokk, Kristian Solhaug and Magnus JJ, bringing vocals, guitar and percussion into the arrangements. The record is mixed by Vinny Villbass and mastered by Klas Lindblad, with Quentin Desveaux’s cover artwork and an orange vinyl pressing.
