About this release
Spunk’s Tighten It Up draws together funk, disco and boogie, with a direct rhythmic feel shaped in Chicago’s studio scene. Released in 1981 on Gold Coast, the album includes the title track, Get What You Want and La Bimini, with Frankie Knuckles credited as mixing consultant. Its vocal-led songs combine tightly arranged grooves with the more electronic textures emerging in dance music at the time. This remastered edition brings the full album back on transparent red vinyl, presented in a picture sleeve with restored artwork. The programme retains the original eight-track sequence across both sides.
