Getz/Gilberto brings Stan Getz's warm tenor saxophone together with João Gilberto's quietly precise guitar and vocals. Released in 1964, the album made bossa nova an international phenomenon while preserving the close, unhurried feel of the performances. Antônio Carlos Jobim's piano and compositions are central to its understated sound.

Astrud Gilberto's vocal on The Girl From Ipanema provides the best-known moment, with Corcovado, Desafinado and O Grande Amor revealing the same balance of melodic ease and rhythmic detail. This Verve vinyl LP reissue presents the original eight-track album.
