About this release
Gilles Peterson and Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick return to their shared Brit-funk roots on STR4TA’s second album. Twanging bass, spacious synth melodies and clipped beats give STR4TASFEAR its foundation, with voices and guest players broadening the picture. Omar, Valerie Etienne, Anushka, Emma-Jean Thackray and Theo Croker each contribute to a record that treats the sound as a living language. Across fifteen tracks, it moves between compact interludes and fully developed songs, connecting the duo’s early musical experiences with their present-day outlook. Brownswood presents the album as a double LP.
