About this release
Superior Elevation recorded these two tracks at Sea-Saint in New Orleans in 1979, bringing psychedelic disco-funk and a smoother soul sound into the same session. Freaky With You runs on a four-to-the-floor rhythm, opening its arrangement into an extended conga breakdown. Welcome To My World slows the mood towards a modern-soul stepper, offering a contrasting vocal performance on the second side. The tapes survived Hurricane Katrina and later reached Mike Nishita, allowing Family Groove to preserve the recordings for release. The pairing documents two sides of the group’s approach, from extended percussion-led movement to a more measured soul groove.
