About this release
Power pairs Philadelphia producer Derrick Graves with vocalist Terrance T on a 1986 recording that sits between post-disco, boogie and the developing sound of house. Machine-driven rhythms and a stripped-back, dub-influenced production support vocal harmonies shaped by Cameo and Prince. Graves brought experience as a session musician for artists including Sister Sledge, Dexter Wansel and Donny Hathaway, alongside his interest in sequencers and evolving studio technology. Isle Of Jura's remastered 12-inch reissue presents the extended vocal mix on the A-side and the extended instrumental on the reverse, giving the arrangement's rhythmic detail a second setting without the lead vocal.
