About this release
Orbits is the second album from Aotearoa ensemble The Circling Sun, bringing seventies spiritual-jazz influences into music shaped by acoustic instruments, synthesisers and layered voices. Saxophones, piano, bass, drums and percussion meet modular and Prophet synthesiser textures, with The Love Affinity Choir adding another dimension to the arrangements. Produced and mixed by Julien Dyne, the album moves from Constellation through Mizu, Seki and Amina before Flying, Teeth and Evening on the reverse. Its balance of rhythmic movement and open space connects jazz grooves with more contemplative passages. This LPSNDW199B edition presents the seven-track vinyl programme on black LP in a standard sleeve.
