About this release
This Mr Bongo split single connects two Los Angeles electro recordings from 1984 and 1985. The Egyptian Lover, also known as Greg J. Broussard, leads with Computer Love (Sweet Dreams), originally released on his Freak Beat label. Jamie Jupitor's Computer Power follows on the reverse, with additional production and arrangement from The Egyptian Lover. The B-side uses a previously unreleased radio edit supplied by Broussard, with a slightly different composition from earlier versions. Drum-machine rhythms and funk influences link both sides, reflecting the close relationship between electro and early hip-hop.
