About this release
Taharqa and Tunde-Ra Aleem follow Hooked On Your Love with Movin' To The Beat, their 1981 single featuring vocalist Corky Hodges. Synths, horns and break-focused percussion place the recording at the meeting point of disco, funk and early boogie. Hodges leads the vocal version on the A-side, while the instrumental on the reverse opens up the arrangement and its rhythm section. This NIA reissue returns both versions to a 12-inch, pressed on yellow vinyl. It captures the brothers' sound before the later Aleem recordings that paired them with Leroy Burgess.
