About this release
The Primitive Painter is Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke’s melodic electronic project, developed alongside their work as Acid Jesus and later Alter Ego. Originally released in 1994, the self-titled album moves from Detroit techno influences towards ambient textures and the expansive melodies associated with early IDM. Pieces such as “Hope”, “Levitation” and “Invisible Landscapes” connect sustained atmospheres with detailed rhythmic programming. This Apollo double LP includes ten tracks, bringing “Stoned Soul Picnic”, previously a CD-only piece, into the vinyl sequence. Remastered by Andreas Lubich, the reissue comes in a recreated gatefold picture sleeve.
