About this release
Originally released in 1992, Turns Into Stone collects The Stone Roses' early singles, B-sides and extended versions that sit outside their self-titled debut album. Elephant Stone opens the collection, with Mersey Paradise, Standing Here and Where Angels Play showing the band's melodic guitar sound alongside less familiar material. The longer grooves of Fools Gold, One Love and Something's Burning draw out the rhythmic side of their music, connecting guitar pop with the dancefloor. This Sony edition spreads the eleven-track programme across four sides, giving the extended versions room within a double-LP sequence.
