About this release
Original Pirate Material is Mike Skinner’s debut as The Streets, connecting UK garage rhythms with conversational rap and closely observed everyday stories. Released in 2002, it includes 'Has It Come To This?', 'Let’s Push Things Forward', 'Don’t Mug Yourself' and 'Weak Become Heroes'. Across fourteen tracks, short sketches sit beside longer narratives, from the opening 'Turn The Page' to the closing 'Stay Positive'. This Locked On double-vinyl edition presents the full album, including 'Same Old Thing' and 'Who Dares Wins', two pieces that help complete the picture of Skinner’s first full-length statement.
