About this release
The Sylvers II follows the Los Angeles family group's debut with eleven songs drawing on soul and funk. First released in 1973, it opens with the measured rhythm of We Can Make It If We Try, then moves through Through The Love In My Heart and Handle It into more reflective material. Leon Sylvers III's writing helps shape a programme that gives the group's harmonies room across contrasting arrangements. The closing Yesterday revisits the Beatles song as an a cappella performance, bringing the focus back to their voices. Mr Bongo's reissue preserves the full vinyl sequence and reproduces the original artwork.
