Tim Gruchy / Michael Krilich - Jungles (Original Full-Length Version) / Arnheim Land (Extended Version)

Left Ear pairs two extended Australian electronic recordings from the 1980s. Tim Gruchy’s “Jungles” combines percussion and early analogue synthesizers in its original full-length version, recorded at his Lab D’Avoid studio in Brisbane. Michael Krilich’s “Arnhem Land” grew from tape loops, cut-ups, synthesizers and drum-machine experiments begun in North Bondi in 1982. Its vocal sample is a Wangga ceremonial song performed by George Morkai; the release was made with permission from custodian Tobias Worumbu. This split 12-inch presents one piece per side, connecting two distinct approaches to experimental composition, and includes a detailed insert.
