About this release
Tom Noble’s House of Spirits project brings together spindly guitar lines, driving bass and an uplifting vocal hook on ‘Please Take Me There’. The original takes its cues from Brit-funk, placing a live-sounding disco arrangement at the centre of the record. Dutch duo Makèz reshapes the song into a vocal house remix, giving its melody a different rhythmic setting. Sizmo follows with an A Capella Dub that draws the material towards a looser Balearic feel. Released through Razor-N-Tape Reserve, the three versions move from the original’s brisk funk pulse to two contrasting interpretations of its vocal and instrumental parts.
