Wagon Repair’s sister-label Arbutus sprouts its second release, a split ep from two of Canada’s finest producers. Tomas Jirku (Onitor, Klang, Traum, Substractif, more…) presents a lush and bouncy groover in ‘West Bestern’, showing a strong west coast influence on his sound, building with a hip swaying momentum before cascading into a breakdown and then taking back off with a devastating bassline and atmospheric chords. Fully tooled for the floor and definitely one his finest moments to date. Ben Nevile – of Telegraph, Mosaic and Background fame – introduces the future of techno-infused house with ‘Boots’, from the get go in full party mode with a dirty bassline and tough rolling Chicago-style beats.
