About this release
Toni Tornado's self-titled 1972 album brings his forceful voice to a set of soul and funk arrangements rooted in Brazil's Black Rio movement. Mané Beleza opens the record, followed by Não Grile A Minha Cuca and Torniente, with eleven songs carrying the programme through to the closing title track. The music connects the rhythmic drive of American soul with Tornado's own place in Brazil's developing funk scene, alongside contemporaries such as Tim Maia. This Vampisoul reissue presents the album on 180g vinyl, returning the original songs to LP format without adding bonus material to the running order.
