About this release
Tony Humphries' Kiss FM Zanzibar Years collection draws on the records he championed through radio broadcasts and his residency at Newark's Club Zanzibar. Running Back selects original recordings from that archive, tracing the movement from uptempo soul into house through New Jersey productions, Chicago tracks, European imports and New York club music. Part One brings together vocal cuts, dubs and mixes from artists including Dee Dee Brave, Jomanda, Romanthony and Slam. It reflects Humphries' role in connecting those scenes and introducing their music to a wider audience. The fourteen-track selection is presented on three black-vinyl records in a gatefold sleeve with an insert.
