About this release
Tony Lavrutz and Scruscru turn towards Afro-funk and broken beats for this Scruniversal seven-inch. Afrika Bambaataa sets a relaxed rhythm beneath bright melodic phrases, keeping the groove loose and open. Zulu Jam brings Dwaal into the collaboration and gives the drums more weight, with organic percussion and expressive flute lines moving across the arrangement. The two sides offer different shades of the same approach: an easy, sunny sway on the first and a deeper percussive pull on the reverse.
