About this release
Vin Sol and Johnny Five introduce Puppy Cuts as Triple Five Sol with Sounds From The Pound Vol. 1, bringing deep house and acid influences into a raw, rhythm-led set. Blocked places an understated 303 line against chopped gospel samples before developing a more jackin’ feel. Come Over Mackin combines soulful chords with tough drums and reverberant rimshots, while Grocery Bag works with crushed pads and a grainier rhythmic texture. Roll Models closes around an organ bassline, a sustained dub-like chord and expressive vocal fragments. The EP connects the duo’s shared house references with arrangements that keep small production details close to the groove.
