About this release
Dreamality and Lucky Stars draw on previously unissued recordings from the archive of Universal Togetherness Band leader Andre Gibson. Dreamality takes the group’s modern soul into a more spacious funk setting, while Lucky Stars moves at a quicker pace. Horns, handclaps, triangle and a guitar solo fill out the latter’s arrangement, giving the two sides different rhythmic characters. Numero Group brings the recordings together on a seven-inch, continuing its work with Gibson’s catalogue and the Chicago band’s surviving material. The pairing offers two perspectives on a group whose songs move between soul writing and dance-oriented instrumental detail.
