About this release
Far East New Rock Invention 1969-1975 traces the experimental rock movement that developed in Japan around the turn of the 1970s. Drawing on licensed Nippon Columbia masters, the selection connects psychedelic and acid rock with jazz-rock and the musicians emerging from the Group Sounds era. Hideki Ishima, Far East Family Band, Takeshi Inomata and Tetsu Yamauchi appear alongside Flower Travellin' Band with Terumasa Hino Quintet, Blues Creation and others. Sally Kubota provides track-by-track notes, placing the recordings within the period's changing musical landscape. Jukka Sarapää handled mastering and lacquer cutting at Timmion, with the LP pressed on 180g vinyl in a reverse-board jacket.
