About this release
Music For Dance & Theatre Volume One collects four pieces originally made for, or inspired by, dance and performance. Music From Memory's selection places rhythmic experimentation alongside more atmospheric passages, reflecting the dialogue between music and avant-garde stage work. Gerard Stokkink's Yellow Turtles and Ivory Playground's self-titled piece occupy the first side, with Atlantis Transit Project's Bird Perspective and Ramuntcho Matta's Zoique III on the reverse. The record gives these compositions a listening context beyond their original performance settings while retaining their rhythmic and textural range. This four-track 12-inch begins the label's Music For Dance & Theatre series.
