About this release
Surinam Funk Force brings together music from Suriname's 1970s and 1980s dance floors, selected by Antal Heitlager and Thomas Gesthuizen. Following their Surinam! compilation for Kindred Spirits, this Rush Hour collection draws on singles and album tracks spanning funk, boogie, disco and kaseko. Steve Watson's Born To Boogie opens the set, followed by Jam Band 80, Sonny Khoeblal and Errol De La Fuente. Ronald Snijders, Astaria and Sound Track Orchestra & Silvy appear on the final side. This 2024 double-LP repress has the revised nine-track programme and artwork by Cosmo Knex.
