About this release
ATA Records' first Library Archive collects pieces written under the direction of Neil Innes and Pete Williams, inspired by the film and television music catalogues of the 1960s and 1970s. Recorded with period techniques and equipment, the set moves between brass-led funk, atmospheric suspense and electronic experiments. Duck Strut sets muted horns and flute against a bass-driven groove, while the cinematic passages evoke covert meetings and night-time streets. Organ, Moog and Mellotron add further textures, connecting the rhythmic playing with the stranger corners of library music and the sound worlds of KPM, DeWolfe and I Marc 4.
