About this release
Webster Station’s Are You For Real gathers boogie and funk recorded in Dayton, Ohio, during a 1979 demo session intended for Warner Bros. The recordings were rejected as insufficiently mainstream and remained in an A&R office for more than thirty years before Family Groove restored the original quarter-inch reel. The EP brings the title track together with I’ve Been Watching You, Can You Feel My Love, Lady and If You Feel Like Dancing. Its five-song programme documents a session that sat outside the label’s commercial plans, preserving the group’s blend of disco movement, funk and soul.
