About this release
Werkha’s third studio album Unsung Irregular brings his jazz-inflected electronics into a reflective, carefully shaped setting. The eleven tracks connect broken-beat movement, detailed drum programming and analogue textures, with acoustic instruments and vocals adding contrasting shades. Daudi Matsiko joins Narrow In, while Ríoghnach Connolly appears on Everyday, bringing two distinctive voices with roots in folk music into the record’s world. S-Bend and Toast Rack sit alongside shorter connecting pieces, with Humour This and Sastrugi carrying the album towards its close. Released by First Word, the set follows Werkha’s interest in the meeting of irregular rhythms, melody and a close connection to nature.
