About this release
First released by Muse in 1976, Love Dance finds Woody Shaw leading an ensemble that includes Billy Harper, Steve Turre, René McLean, Cecil McBee and Joe Bonner. The session connects modal exploration and spiritual themes with the rhythmic momentum of post-bop, leaving space for extended solos and interplay around Shaw's trumpet. Its five long-form pieces balance compositional structure with freer passages, bringing the group's contrasting instrumental voices into focus. The Time Traveler reissue was remastered and cut from the original analogue tapes by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab, with new liner notes by Bob Blumenthal and Barney Fields.
