About this release
With A Hammer finds Yaeji connecting her dance music roots with Korean indie rock, electronica and the pop sounds of the 1990s and early 2000s. Developed between New York, London and Seoul, her debut album turns inward, examining sorrow, doubt and the anger that can accompany breaking free of expectations. Its central image is a metaphorical hammer used to dismantle those restrictions, with self-determination and hope on the other side. This pink vinyl edition on XL Recordings contains the full thirteen-track album, from Submerge FM and For Granted through to Be Alone In This.
Format: 12" pink vinyl LP
Label: XL Recordings
