About this release
YĪN YĪN's fourth album extends the Maastricht quartet's mix of disco, funk, surf and psychedelic rock, threaded with Southeast Asian melodic influences. In Search Of Yang opens with an Alan Watts sample before the band settle into the dancefloor focus that runs through the record. Italo disco's spacious synthesis and studio effects are part of the palette, alongside guitar, bass, keyboards and drums from Kees Berkers, Remy Scheren, Jerry Scheren and Erik Bandt. Following Mount Matsu, Yatta! brings those influences into an eleven-track sequence, from Spirit Adapter and Yata Yata through to the closing Mooncake Melody.
