About this release
It's been well over two years since we last heard from Your Ex, but we still don't know who they are. Their new EP is as good as that first one and moves with deep house authority with moods that subsume you quietly and without fanfare.
'Spiritual Mentor' and 'Through Space & Time' weave warm basslines beneath hazy chords, while percussion maintains a hypnotic, understated tick. Across all the tracks, analogue textures bring that authentic, lived-in feel with hints of jazz, funk, dub and library music melded into a language rooted in Chicago and Detroit traditions. These are heady late-hour soundscapes for connoisseurs.
