Yussef Dayes - Black Classical Music

Black Classical Music takes listeners through Yussef Dayes’ past and present while exploring themes of home and family. The nineteen-track record draws influence from musical heroes including Miles Davis and Rahsaan Roland Kirk, alongside rhythms absorbed through Dayes’ travels. His drums and Rocco Palladino’s bass provide a foundation for keyboards, saxophone, percussion and a wide group of guests. Chronixx joins Pon Di Plaza, Tom Misch appears on Rust and Shabaka Hutchings contributes to Raisins Under The Sun. Released by Brownswood, this black-vinyl double LP presents the complete sequence, including its short interludes and the closing Cowrie Charms.
