About this release
Osaka producer Akio Nagase brings sampled instruments, voices and dub effects into midtempo acid house on Global Acid EP. Jurassic Shanghai Acid opens with dialogue, sound effects and squelching synth lines, followed by Mongol 303's looping throat singing and shifting bass patterns. Okinawa Yunta draws on folk song from Taketomi Island, rebuilding its melodic phrases around a gently moving acid rhythm. Saigon Acid raises the tempo to close, bringing the sound of the đàn nhị together with drum-machine patterns. Rearranged, edited and remixed for vinyl, these four tracks connect Nagase's dub background with his TB-303 work.
