About this release
Babs Robert & The Love Planet’s self-titled album captures a Belgian ensemble combining composed themes with open improvisation. Originally released by Alpha in 1970, the session expands Robert’s saxophone-led group with additional reeds, double bass and an extensive range of percussion. Piano and prepared piano sit alongside bells, sirens, vibraphone and homemade instruments, giving the music a palette that reaches beyond a conventional jazz quartet. The eight pieces include “Architexture”, “Marrow Bone” and “His Master’s Noise”, whose two movements close the album. This Eating Standing Recordings vinyl reissue presents the full programme in a gatefold sleeve with the original artwork.
