About this release
Bäs Noir’s ‘My Love Is Magic’ brings together the original Club Mix and three reinterpretations by Bushwacka! and Mark Broom. First released in 1988, Rhano Burrell’s production paired Philadelphia vocal duo Morie Bivens and Mary Ridley with the sound of New York house. Bushwacka!’s edit draws out the percussion, piano bassline and synthesizer parts, while Broom approaches the song from two different angles: a house-oriented Dub Retouch and the more techno-focused A12 Mix. Keeping the Club Mix alongside these treatments makes the connections between the original vocal record and the later versions clear across this four-track Nu Groove 12-inch.
