About this release
Darwin Chamber builds Can You Pass The Acid Test? around shifting acid lines, voice samples and changes in rhythmic intensity. DJ Spun’s treatment of the title track opens the record with a deep, jacking house groove and details that move in and out of the mix. Never Coming Down introduces darker percussion and unsettled synthesizer textures, followed by the original Acid Test. On the second side, 25th Century Acid Cat brings a brighter palette before Get Down returns to tense, mid-tempo acid techno. The sequence draws on the idea of a San Francisco acid trip, using sound and pacing to trace its changing atmosphere.
