About this release
Pique is Dora Morelenbaum’s debut solo album, co-produced with Ana Frango Elétrico. The Bala Desejo singer builds on the intimate atmosphere of Vento de Beirada with a broader palette of MPB, disco, soul and jazz, threaded with an indie pop sensibility. Venha Comigo and Sim, Não. bring the rhythmic side forward, while A Melhor Saída and Petricor leave more room for reflection. Horns, strings, guitar and bass give the arrangements their movement, with contributions from fellow Bala Desejo members Lucas Nunes, Julia Mestre and Zé Ibarra. Paula and Jaques Morelenbaum also participate, connecting Dora’s contemporary Rio circle with an earlier generation.
