About this release
Doris' Did You Give The World Some Love Today, Baby combines jazz, soul and funk with a more experimental edge. Recorded at EMI Studios in Stockholm in 1970, the album places her voice above bass, drums, guitar and organ arrangements, moving between melodic songs and harder rhythmic passages. Don't and Beatmaker emphasize the band's bass-led funk, while You Never Come Closer draws on a more intense drum and organ sound. The twelve-track sequence also includes I Wish I Knew, Grey Rain Of Sweden and Whispering Pine. This Mr Bongo vinyl reissue preserves the complete album programme.
