About this release
Elkin & Nelson’s “Jibaro” pairs Latin funk and psychedelic rock with the loose, open-ended dancefloor spirit associated with Balearic music. The Colombian brothers recorded in Spain, and their music later found a different audience through Ibiza’s DJs. This transparent red vinyl 12-inch revisits the long and short versions presented on the 1986 promo, with the extended “Enrolle” version on side A and the shorter “Aperitivo” on the reverse. Remastered from the original sources, the reissue restores the Columbia promo sleeve design. The two versions offer different lengths of the same distinctive meeting of folk-rooted songwriting, funk and psychedelia.
