About this release
Trésor Magnétique gathers unreleased recordings and archival selections from Francis Bebey’s catalogue, recovered from tapes held by his son Patrick. Across twenty tracks, the Cameroonian composer’s voice, guitar, kalimba, percussion and flute meet electronic textures and drum-machine rhythms. Alternate versions of “Forest Nativity”, “La Condition Masculine” and “Quand Le Soleil Est La” reveal different approaches within the same body of work, alongside pieces including “Ganvié” and “Funky Maringa”. Curated by Romek Boyer and Nahida Tarbaoui, the Africa Seven collection spans recordings from the 1970s and 1980s. This double-vinyl edition includes an insert and audio remastered at Abbey Road Studios.
