About this release
GZA's Liquid Swords brings a measured delivery and tightly worked lyricism to the dark, hypnotic sound of RZA's production. Released by Geffen in 1995, the Wu-Tang Clan member's second solo album was recorded largely at RZA's Staten Island basement studio. The title track introduces a record that moves between detailed storytelling, sharp verbal exchanges and a persistent sense of tension, with “Cold World”, “4th Chamber” and “Shadowboxin'” among its defining moments. This double vinyl edition carries the album's original vinyl programme, closing with “Investigative Reports”, “Swordsman” and “I Gotcha Back” on the final side.
