About this release
Greg Foat’s Blobs explores ambient library music through woodwind and synthesizer. The album began with a birthday card his four-year-old son Leo drew for his mother, using that small family moment as the starting point for a set of instrumental pieces. Foat’s playful electronic palette brings together unusual sounds and gentle melodic movement, with references reaching from Japanese ambient music to children’s television soundtracks. Rather than a conventional song cycle, the numbered pieces form a series of miniature scenes. Blue Crystal Records presents the nine-part programme on vinyl LP.
