Jon Dixon / JT Donaldson / Abacus / DFRA - Legendary

Legendary brings Jon Dixon, JT Donaldson, Abacus and DFRA together on Silver Walker, with each producer approaching deep house through a different balance of jazz, melody and rhythm. Dixon opens with fluttering grooves and saxophone motifs, while Donaldson folds jazz phrasing into a swinging house framework. On the second side, Abacus supplies a warm, melodic contribution before label founder DFRA closes with a tribute to Mike Huckaby. The latter combines a soft-edged pulse with a bittersweet atmosphere, rounding out a selection that moves between buoyant movement and reflective moods. Its four contributions share an emphasis on expressive musical detail and understated dancefloor momentum.
