About this release
The College Dropout introduces Kanye West as a rapper as well as a producer, building its songs around soul samples, melodic hooks and a broad cast of guests. Released in 2004, the debut moves between work, education, faith and family, with All Falls Down, Spaceship and Jesus Walks setting out its range. Syleena Johnson, Jay-Z, Common, Talib Kweli and Ludacris appear alongside West, while Slow Jamz brings in Twista and Jamie Foxx. Through The Wire captures his voice during recovery from a car accident, and the extended Last Call closes the record with a personal account of his route into music.
