About this release
Linda Williams' Elevate Our Minds returns from the Arista catalogue on a remastered 7-inch, paired with City Living. Originally recorded in 1979 and produced by Richard Evans, Elevate Our Minds combines a bossa nova rhythm with trumpet details and Williams' poised vocal. The arrangement gives its soul sound a light, flowing movement. City Living shifts towards New York disco, bringing together brass, synthesizers, crisp drumming and a prominent bass line beneath Williams and her backing singers. The two tracks show contrasting settings for her voice, moving from the relaxed sway of the first side to the brighter urban rhythm of the reverse.
