Loleatta Holloway - Hit & Run

Loleatta Holloway's Hit & Run pairs two interpretations of the same song, from Walter Gibbons and Joaquin Joe Claussell. Gibbons' extended mix reshapes the original through its multitrack parts, using space and rhythm to give Holloway's vocal a different setting. Claussell approaches the song through shifting percussion, clipped guitar and passages that open around the voice before the ensemble gathers again. The contrast is in how the arrangements unfold: both work with the song's emotional force, but give its instruments and vocals different roles over time. One mix occupies each side of this Misc release.
