About this release
Originally released in 2013, Curiosities is Lord Echo's second album, positioned between Melodies and Harmonies. The New Zealand producer and multi-instrumentalist brings jazz, reggae, Afrobeat and disco-influenced neo-soul into a self-produced set that moves between relaxed listening and more rhythmic arrangements. Lisa Tomlins sings on its dub-funk interpretation of Pharoah Sanders' The Creator Has A Master Plan, while tracks such as Digital Haircut and Put It In My Head show the album's different rhythmic settings. Soundway's double-LP edition spreads the ten-track programme across four sides, preserving the sequence from Endless Dawn through to Arabesque.
