About this release
Marc Davis brings Chicago boogie and Italian disco together on the second Chi Talo EP. On the A-side, he extends and re-edits New Sound Quartet's Bass Construction, an album track from 1979, opening up its repeating funk groove. The reverse features The Saucer Planes' Straight To The Point, recovered from a deteriorating acetate connected to Davis's Chicago DJ mentor Jahmal Anderson. Davis reshapes the original vocal recording into a psychedelic instrumental boogie track. This Mr Bongo 12-inch presents both edits, continuing the series' pairing of recordings from two scenes that helped shape Chicago's dancefloor sound.
