About this release
All My People draws on Maria Somerville’s roots in the west of Ireland, folding folk forms into ethereal electronics, hypnotic drones and sparse percussion. Her voice sits within the surrounding textures, giving songs such as “Eyes Don’t Say It” and the title track an intimate, suspended quality. Originally self-released in 2019, the album balances pop melody with more open, atmospheric passages. This revised eight-track vinyl edition adds “Lakes”, a live recording from Somerville’s 2019 tour with Brendan Jenkinson, following the original sequence through “Brighter Days” to a further exploration of its hazy sound.
