About this release
Stories From Another Time 1982-1988 explores the guitar-led music of Angolan musician and researcher Mário Rui Silva. Drawn from three albums released in Luanda during the 1980s, the collection moves between acoustic ballads and rhythmically intricate grooves, blending Angolan and West African traditions with jazz and classical instrumentation. Silva's playing carries a warm, melancholy character, while keys and interlocking rhythms add depth around it. Compiled by Sam Jacob and Kay Suzuki for Time Capsule, the set traces an artist's search for the roots and possibilities of his country's music. This half-speed mastered edition includes an expanded four-page insert.
